ETL certification is the abbreviation for Electrical Testing Laboratories in the United States. Like UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification marks in accordance with UL standards or American national standards, and can also issue composite certification marks in accordance with UL standards or American national standards and CSA standards or Canadian standards at the same time.
As long as any electrical, mechanical or electromechanical product bears the ETL mark, it indicates that the product has reached the minimum requirements of the generally recognized product safety standards of the United States and Canada, and that it has passed the test of the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and meets the relevant requirements. It also means that the production plant agrees to receive strict periodic inspections to ensure the consistency of product quality, which can be sold to the US and Canadian markets. For distributors, retailers and consumers, it means that they have purchased products that have been tested and certified by a third party.
How to obtain ETL certificate:
1. If there is a CB test report, use the CB test report for certification (differential testing may be required)
2. If there is no CB test report, you need to apply directly and obtain a certificate through the test
ETL certification application process:
1.Submit the application form
2. Provide a copy of the CB test certificate (not required for direct application)
3. Provide a copy of the CB test report (not required for direct application)
4. Provide samples
5. Other relevant test results and product data, such as: product manuals, photos, component lists, etc. (If you pass the CB report, you need to conduct a difference test)
Information required to apply for ETL certification:
1. Circuit schematic diagram (please note that its parameters must be consistent with the nameplate and manual)
2. Printed circuit layout and parts location diagram
A. Products with electronic circuits must be provided
B. If electronic switches, dimmers and other electronic components have been certified, this item may not be provided.
3, English manual (the manual must have the name of the manufacturer or trademark, model, parameters, installation method and necessary safety warnings.)
4. Statement of model differences (If there are multiple models in the same series, the similarities and differences between the models must be clear. The statement must be signed.)
5. Nameplate
6. Product installation structure diagram/exploded diagram (please specify the part number and name of each part.)
7. List of key parts and components (the list must be signed)
A. The format is as follows and the parts are listed in sequence corresponding to the codes in the exploded diagram;
B. Fill in one piece for each series product. If a component is only applicable to a specific model, please indicate it.
8. A copy of the certificate of important safety-related components (refer to the requirements of the "Key Parts List" to provide the certificate, and the number on the certificate must be checked, and whether the parameters are consistent with the actual sample.)
